A Message from the President
Vernon Women in Business is a non-profit organization open to all women who are involved in any form of business, in the Vernon, B.C. area. Our purpose is to offer networking opportunities that inspire, educate and motivate women to be the best that they can be. Our group has existed for more than 40 years and is the largest organization of business women in Vernon, with members ranging from those employed by banks and other large corporations, to professionals such as lawyers and accountants, to creative artists and therapeutic specialists, to start-up entrepreneurs in home- and internet- based businesses.
Our group meets once per month, on the second Wednesday of every month between September and June, from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m., at the Prestige Hotel, 4411 32 St, Vernon, BC. The lunch meeting begins with opportunity to network and exchange business cards with other members, then we eat a delicious buffet lunch. We have a speaker for 20 minutes, followed by another opportunity to network. Our speakers are business women in the community from many walks of life, who share tips and insights on topics including marketing, management, their own business practices, and inspirational words.
Annual membership is $85.00 per person, pro-rated early in the new year for partial year membership. The buffet lunch at our meetings is included in the per-meeting admission charge which is $18.00 per meeting for members. Non-members are always welcome to attend our luncheons, for a fee of $22.00 per meeting which includes admission, lunch and networking.
We also hold two major events per year: the Women’s Leadership Conference on October 27, 2017 at the Vernon Golf and Country Club, and the Christmas Market on December 13, 2017 at the Prestige Hotel where members showcase their businesses and we enjoy a delicious Christmas buffet with door prizes. These events are open to anyone (member or non-member) for an admission fee and tickets are sold in advance through Ticketseller or through our website. Finally, our group holds casual meet-ups between regular monthly meetings where members can socialize and get to know each other better. These consist of drinks and appetizers at local restaurants after work on a weekday, and breakfast meetups on a weekdays. These are scheduled from time to time and advertised on our Facebook page, Twitter and website.
